HALLOWEEN 2025 - A Radioactive Halloween Hack

This is mostly a quick post to say happy Halloween! To come up with an excuse to make a blog post for it, I've been playing a certain Halloween Hack of a certain popular game, by a certain famous artist... or something like that.

I haven't finished it, but my thoughts so far are: it's pretty good, but not amazing. It's a lot of fun, it's bitch-hard, and the custom assets are all pretty well done and cool to see for the first time. The dialogue is way longer than usual EarthBound text is, which can sometimes make it a little difficult to read at on the Fast text setting, but it's well-written and a little spooky, ooooo~

It's got a couple little oddities every now and then that emphasize that this is a fan hack, sometimes you have to press A through an invisible menu that wouldn't be there in EarthBound proper, sometimes dialogue boxes persist through load zones and take a second before they're refreshed and cleared, nothing truly gamebreaking, but just a lot of little things. Despite this, it's a lot of fun, and worth checking out if you're an EarthBound fan and/or a Toby Fox fan!
