Nintendo 3DS Browser Support

In the big 2025 and beyond, built-in browsers like the ones found on game consoles are constantly falling out of date. This isn't a new concept, something like the PSP Internet Browser was outdated from the moment it released. However, even as the Internet marches on and technology advances further and further, some of these devices still find footholds in the modern webscape to cling on.

To that extent, welcome to the Nintendo 3DS Browser Support Page! Catalogued below are websites that have been verified by me personally, or have been submitted with verification, to be working on the Nintendo 3DS Browser as of the date listed!

  • FrogFind - frogfind.de - Verified 12-16-2025
FrogFind is a search engine specifically made for vintage computers, and is available in German, English, Ukranian, and Russian. It's powered by several search engines, and displays the results in plain-text HTML for easy web browsing on older hardware. It works flawlessly on the 3DS, an ideal alternative to the built-in Google and Yahoo! search engines the system comes with. Using FrogFind, you can even view the URL content of something like a Tumblr post without having to load the webpage! This allows the 3DS to view rudimentary versions of Tumblr textposts, access post images, etc. when it normally wouldn't be able to at all! It horribly compresses images, and I couldn't even get it to specifically bring me certain pages to view, but I did find that if a Tumblr post comes up in the search engine, it let's you view it. Interesting stuff!

  • The Old Net - theoldnet.com - Verified 12-16-2025
"The Old Net is an attempt to restore vintage web browsing on vintage computers. It uses the Internet Archive: Wayback Machine API and a proxy that strips out any incompatible javascript and stitches together as many links as it can" (from their homepage). You can even sign the guestbook! They also have links and resources to other similar retro computing Internet projects and sites, which I have yet to verify, but are certainly on my radar!

  • Archive of Our Own - archiveofourown.org - Verified 12-16-2025
The Nintendo 3DS Browser can visit, log in, and read AO3 fanfiction right from the Net! Visually it's somewhat similar to viewing it on an old iPod Touch (trust me, I'd know) but now controllable with a 3DS! A really fun and novel way to read your favorite archived works!

  • Bulbapedia - bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net - Verified 12-16-2025
With the extensive use of popups, icons, and the like on the modern Internet, Bulbapedia isn't perfect on 3DS. However, it's more than usable! Wiki pages are decently formatted, most images load, and pages flow smoothly from one to the other. If you're delving into some 3DS Pokémon games and really need some wiki help, just know that you can absolutely do it all on one device!

  • STARMEN.NET - starmen.net - Verified 12-16-2025
I was very surprised to see the homepage to this one load! You're unable to log in, so stuff like the forums won't be usable on the 3DS, as well as most images in news posts not displaying. I was, however, able to quickly jump around and view their informational pages about the various MOTHER games, series merchandise, the MOTHER 3 Fan Translation page, things of that nature! (Even if I did get stuck on a dead-end Fangamer link now and again)

  • Legends of Localization - legendsoflocalization.com - Verified 12-16-2025
The legendary translator Clyde "Tomato" Mandelin has been writing about translation and localization for a long time. He's written several books about various games, worked on major media franchises, and fan translated games, the most famous being MOTHER 3. Good news: you can read up on the world of good (and bad) game translation right from your 3DS! All the main pages seem to load well, though some articles are long enough that the 3DS has trouble loading them, and thus won't show more than a paragraph or two. This isn't universal, some load just fine! But it means that that one article you had your eye on might need to wait until you can get online someplace else.

  • Discross - https://discross.net/
While I haven't tested it personally, the 3DS is mentioned on the home page for Discross, a third-party legacy browser client for Discord! As of now it only works on servers that have their bot installed, so I haven't tested it yet, but I'll update this entry when I get some hands-on experience with it! For now, I wanted to mention it here so that people can know about it, since it does mention the 3DS on it's own compatibility list.

  • Your Site Here - your-url.here - Verified by you!
If you'd like to contribute to the list, send me an email at tgirl-gaming-thoughts@proton.me with pictures showing the successfully loaded website on the system. I'm happy to give anonymous credit, but if you'd like to be mentioned by name, be sure to include a name or username I can use!
