Homestuck is only tangentially a "video game" topic, but I don't care I'm gonna post about it on my game blog.

I entirely forgot that the Homestuck Pilot by Vivzipop was coming out, so I actually watched it just now. It's only about 10 minutes long, but I think it was plenty for a pilot of it's aim and goal, and gave me a much better vision of what this could be versus the trailer they released a while back.

Obviously with only 10 minutes, there's only so much to talk about. Ultimately, the only thing I need to say is: I liked it! I think it has a lot of potential. It could get way worse really fast, but I think it deserves to try its hand and get the chance to prove itself. If it gets picked up for a series, I think it could go really well. There's always the chance for a bad turn, but who's to say? I hope the team gets a chance to keep it going and show what they can do with a Homestuck adaptation. I really look forward to hearing more from the Homestuck and Vivzipop teams about what's next.

In the meantime, we can only hope that it'll get picked up. The Homestuck official Bluesky account made mention of the fact that "performance of merch is going to be the # 1 factor for streaming services to determine whether this pilot gets picked up to be a full series", so if you want to support that possibility, the Homestuck Official Store is selling merchandise based on the pilot! Personally I'm gravitating towards the Beta Kids sticker pack, but there's lots of fun stuff to choose from if you want to support this project.

I'm also going to embed the YouTube upload of the pilot for you to watch, I highly recommend giving it a look! Whether you're a Homestuck fan, or someone who's entirely new, it's very fun and posits some really cool ideas for what this could look like as a series. I really hope it goes places!
